DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND RELIEF (FLOODS) (DISASTER
DECLARATION) NOTICE,, 2022
WHEREAS floods have occurred in such parts as specified in the Schedule causing
death, injury to persons, displacement of persons, loss of land, damage to property and loss
af foad and possessions:
AND WHEREAS in these circumstances it has become necessary to invoke the provisions
of section 32 of the Disaster Preparedness and Relief Act in order te secure the safety and
protection of persons in the affected areas;
Now, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers canferred by section 32 (1) of the Act. J,
DR. LAZARUS MCCARTHY CHAKWERA, President of ihe Republic of Malawi, do hereby give
notice as follows—
|. This Notice may be cited as the Disaster Preparedness and Relief Citation
{Fioads) (Disaster Declaration) Notice, 2022.

2.-—There is hereby declared, in respect of all areas specified in the Declaration
Schedule, a state of disaster and, upon the date hereof, the provisions of of disaster
section 32 of the Act shall come into force in respect of all areas specified in
the Schedule, or such parts thereof as may have been affected by the floods,
and shal] apply to the exigencies arising from the situation in those areas.

Phalombe District
Zomba City and District
Chiradzulu District
Blantyre City and District
Thyolo District
Mulanje District
Balaka District
Machinga District
